Christmas in London

Hmmm.....so, how was X'mas for me?

In a nutshell, AWESOME!!

The interesting part was, entrance fee for most of the museums in London were Zero Pounds!

So, where did I go....where did I go......

National Art Gallery
Victoria & Albert Museum
Science Museum
Natural History Museum
Imperial War Museum
Greenwich Royal Observatory
National Maritime Museum

All were just impressive! Best was the Imperial War Museum. To all my war fanatic friends, I recommend this museum to you guys. Spending an entire day there is what you need. Seriously.

Besides that, I went to Westminster Abbey, Houses of Parliament, Downing Street, and Saint Pauls' Cathedral. Snapped losts of cool pics.

Kensington Palace was also part of the itinerary. It's okay.

River Thames Cruise was fun too! The ferry took me to Greenwich.

By the way, going to Ripley's Believe It Or Not would be a rip-off. 22.50 Pounds for a student.

Want to find out about some interesting incidents during my trip there?

I burnt 25 pounds on clubbing. By the way, I've never before used this amount of money on a very single occasion like this.

Spotted 2 Malaysian made cars in London. A Proton Savvy and an old year 1985 Proton Saga whisking through the street of Victoria. Cool ey...

By the way, I noticed that there are many 'Squares' in London. Something intriguing.

Missed the bus to the airport. Wasn't so bad as it seemed. I took the next bus and arrived at the airport at a fairly early time. The gate for my flight was not open upon arrival.

Owh! Chinese food was nice! Ate roasted pork, roasted duck, crispy duck(crispy version of cooked duck eaten with pancakes), char siu, char kuay teow, lontong, hokkien noodles, yin yong noodles, singapore noodles and a couple more which I do not recall. Owh yeah, teh tarik was good too. ;)

Food at typical british pubs was just ok. Nothing spectacular. Go if you want to enjoy the atmosphere. Don't go if it's all about the food. I had fish and chips and roast of the day. It was chicken. Mind you, I shared these two meals with my cousin, Jo Yee.

This trip is fun, it's memorable, and it's just worth the time there.

Saxony's Dresden

This is the latest update of the cities I've travelled.

Here's some sneaky peeks:

Friday night(27/11/09) ;

Travel with City Night Line to Dresden. It wasn't so fun after all. Not as what I've expected. The bed was small, though clean. The journey took 9 hours, that's longer a journey from Frankfurt to Dubai by air for sure.

Saturday (28/11/09) ;

Arrival at Dresden Hauptbahnhof at 9am. Nice train station, and clean.

Bought doughnuts at a bakery in the city. Yeah, it was for breakfast.

Places visited :

Zwinger Palace(German baroque architecture), Semperopfer, Frauenkirche/Church of The Lady(but viewed only from the outside), Hofkirche, Kreuzkirche(walked up to the bell tower..breathtaking view by the way) , and paid an excruciatingly painful 10 euros for The Green Vault.

Frauenkirche (Was completely destroyed in WWII and rebuilt by 2005).

Some monument. Did not pay attention..haha.

Semperopfer at night.

Zwinger Palace at night.

Saturday evening ;

Visited Striezelmarkt(some really old X'mas market in Dresden). Nice and bright X'mas lights glittered the night.

Captured breathtaking shots of Elbe River. Scenic scenic scenic.

And called big sis! Talked for just 20 minutes, because she had a concert to attend.

Drank Gluehwein at another X'mas market. It's sort of the must drink wine during X'mas.

Hit the sack at 1am after two episodes of Friends. Yeah, the headache I had did not bother me. And I don't pop pills!

Scene of a X'mas market.

Another scene of the X'mas market.

Another scene of the X'mas market.

Sunday (29/11/09)

Alarm clocks aside please. I'm on a blady vacation! Which meant that I woke up at 10am..haha.

Checked out from Hofgarten 1824, and headed straight for Frauenkirche again. This time, I entered. I was among the first in the queue. Visiting hours were short; Only from 12.30pm till 1.30pm.

Take a look at the queue.

The inside of the church.

More inside pics.

More inside pics.

Pipe organ.

Packed church.

Then, I made a stop at the old fort of Dresden city. Nothing much except an old Fortress.

;)

Next comes the best place of visit of the day, the VW Glass Factory! This factory assembles only Phaetons, the best of it's range..top of the line. Paying 2 euros for the tour was totally worth it. Too bad that no pictures were allowed to be taken in the factory itself.

The gate.

The glass factory.

Here's the Phaeton. It comes in many variants with the cheapest at 66k euros.

Another pic.

Another section of the factory as seen from the outside.

Zwinger's Gallery was the last stop. Art art and art. It's so fascinating that the Renaissance painters ant artists were so fond of painting nude woman pieces. Almost 1/3 of the exhibits were of naked women.

Tower of Babel.

It's Bacchus!

Read it!

Below are some random pictures which I've taken. Take a look!

That's Albertinum.

Nice river cruise boat.

Cool building.

Me :)

Bruehl Terasse.

Elbe River.

Frauenkirche in the background.

Night view's good.

Yah...that's about so much of Dresden. Too bad Albertinum is closed till next year. Nontheless, it was worth the trip! Thanks to the Mauerfall-spezial and Mitfahrtgutschein !

Next stop, LONDON! *Cheers*

Bio shops, Asian Shops, Rossman, DM, and not to mention all the regular German supermarkets have been a let down..

And thanks to Sean, haha! A wild but accurate guess! I'll seek your wisdom when it comes to food!

blah blah blah

SO...

Exams are long over....

Term break is reaching it's end...

In other words..

~ Need to wake up at 6.10 am everyday ~ Urgh..so early..

And so...

I did what I have needed to do...

Cleaned up my room, tried to read a book, made phone calls to a few relatives, made phone calls to a couple of friends, travelled, and that's pretty much it.

And not forgetting,

visiting big sis!

Bought new Kleidung because I don't buy them myself. Yes, I know, I am very dependent on making choices when it comes to buying stuff like that.

And cheh cheh..if you are reading this..

Thanks to you for not allowing me to eat your korean noodles... :S

But thanks to you for bringing me to this FANTASTIC dim sum restaurant in Dusseldorf! Really.. it's by far the best in Germany and actually beats many dim sum shops hands down back in Malaysia. It's a fact.

So, to those dim sum sellers back in Malaysia, seriously.... you've got lots of room for improvement. And don't be too 'generous' with dough while filling the dish with a measly piece of meat or prawn or whatever that is meant to be in there.

Let me weather these hurdles before I start sleeping soundly again...

Ha ha ha...

The German Version Of Chinese New Year

Precisely short,

it's like any other day besides a festive day.

And to those back in Malaysia nicely cherishing this moment, enjoy to the fullest...

while I await my exams in 1 week time! Yay! :s

So,

I wish everyone a prosperous and happy Chinese New Year ahead!

Good luck in the year of the ox!

Opera

Gian Francesco de Majo

Alessandro

On this very day.....

the evangelicals..........

congregate..............

to enjoy every moment of it!

But I did not comprehend a single crap of it

besides the very phrase.......

dann lebt sie weiter!!!

Nevertheless....

The music good!

And therefore,

I conclude.....

no regrets having 9 euros less from my stash!

Every Moment To Cherish.

Ok here I am writing this post on this very day with just exams around the corner. Ah who gives a shit. Life’s more than just ridiculous exams..don’t you agree? Well..it doesn’t matter. I agree.

Here are some memorable pictures of my lovely trip to Abu Dhabi. Yes. Abu Dhabi. Not Dubai. But yeah, I went there too. Went to Al Ain too. It’s some city in Abu Dhabi.

Well..it was quite an enjoyable trip with cheh cheh ong there too..haha! :D All the nice dinners, the shopping, camel riding (unfortunately, I accidentally deleted them..dam.. :( ), and family togetherness! Yes! That was the whole idea. Gosh..it’s been 2 years since we as a family got together. So it was a really meaningful 13 days besides a day or two of laying eggs in the villa..

Ohh Ohh! The weather was perfect! Good timing to go to the UAE. Not a good time visiting in August unless you wanna get baked even in the night.

Shopping is awesome there..so for those avid shoppers..yeah, Dubai’s the right place. Just name the brand, you will find it there. From Giordano to Louis Vuitton, from Lacoste to Manolo Blahnik, from Swatch to Rolex..

Sandstorm! It was something new to me. Didn’t really expect it.

Skyscrapers. Those tall buildings. Just take a look at Dubai 20 years back. Nothing but an empty desert with just a few shacks. Oil oil oil. Now it’s nothing but a concrete jungle.

Yes..as you observe..there are lots of pictures. I’m making up for the past empty and dry weeks..wohhoo!! 44 pictures!

Pictures will do the talking now. :)

And to my suave sister, I’m coming to visit you soon!

:)
